A Championship Legacy
Essence Girls Basketball Program, Inc. (EGB) is a premier, not-for-profit 501(c)(3) organization. Founded in 1997, Essence has dedicated decades to empowering young women on and off the hardwood, expanding our developmental pathways deep into South Georgia.
Nike EYBL Circuit
Since 2007, Essence has been an elite member of the Nike Girls Youth Elite Program. We are one of only 32 grassroots programs nationwide, and represent the only Gold Star Nike Program in Florida/Southeastern region to capture a Nike National Championship.
Collegiate Pathways
Our program operates with an elite collegiate placement rate, successfully guiding over 90% of our student-athletes to college on athletic scholarships. We connect South Georgia athletes directly to premier NCAA, NAIA, and JUCO scouts.
Holistic Development
True excellence extends beyond court boundaries. We prioritize academic monitoring, personal etiquette training, health and fitness workshops, and robust recruitment guidance to build future leaders.

Program Director, Essence South Georgia
Meet Emon Grayson
Leading our South Georgia division is highly decorated coach Emon Grayson. With nearly two decades of experience, Emon Grayson has established herself as a cornerstone of youth athletic development, bringing elite court expertise, deep community roots, and a championship pedigree directly to Essence South Georgia.
Coach Grayson also currently serves as the Head Girls Basketball Coach at Memorial Day School in Savannah, Georgia. In February 2026, she guided the top-seeded Matadors to win the program's first-ever GIAA State Championship. Remarkably navigating a highly competitive season with a tight, six-player roster, her tactical skill and leadership earned her the prestigious 2026 GIAA All-Region Coach of the Year honors.

17+ Years Coaching Experience
Over 16 years of youth skill development, travel basketball leadership, and serving as Savannah Tigers AAU Director.
